SOLUTION

From the expression

[tex]x^2-5+2x+x^2[/tex]

combining like terms we have to bring the x-squares together, we have

[tex]\begin{gathered} x^2+x^2-5+2x \\ 2x^2-5+2x \end{gathered}[/tex]

To write in standard form, the 2x should come before the -5, so we have

[tex]2x^2+2x-5[/tex]

Hence the answer is

[tex]2x^2+2x-5[/tex]
